Burrito Montañero

Beans, rice, pulled beef lettuce. Cheese, sour cream, and wrapped in a warm tortilla.

Our Burrito Montañero includes generous helpings of beans, rice, pulled beef, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream wrapped in a warm tortilla. If beef isn’t your style, you can get a Colombian chicken burrito instead.

The history of burritos goes back to the Mesoamerican people of Mexico who would wrap foods like avocados, peppers, and squash in corn tortillas. Modern burritos first started appearing in northern Mexico in the early 1900s and quickly made their way to the US. “Burrito” in English means “little donkey”, named after a donkey’s ability to carry a large amount of stuff.

Though one of the most popular Mexican foods in various countries, within Mexico it remains fairly uncommon outside of the northern regions. However, other countries, like Colombia, have made burritos their own by changing the ingredients and flavours to reflect local tastes.
